VALUABLE LIFE LESSONS AS TO WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP IN CHASING YOUR DREAMS IN THIS LIFE: A CASE OF LIVERPOOL FC – THE REDS!

Today, from the archives of Kwame Obeng’s Diary, I put these carefully selected and well-articulated words on my wall not just as a proud red, but also as a way of expressing the felicities and ecstasy my heart has been inditing following the winning of the Premier League by my team, Liverpool FC.

This write up also seeks to encourage someone to see reason as to why you can’t give up and throw in the towel following the barrage of set backs you might have encountered whiles pursuing your dreams and aspirations in life.

Finally, the wait is over…Yes! Liverpool FC have broken the 30-year spell of not wining the Premiership and they are the current champions in England with 7 matches yet to be played. This record is not just unprecedented in the country’s football history following World War 2, but it is particularly dumbfounding the kind of record they will set should they win the rest of their matches and to borrow Rio Ferdinand’s words “the caliber of players” that have achieved this fate in the club’s history.

No! don’t be quick to appeal to Rene Descartes’ dream argument of thinking you are dreaming because, sometimes dream experiences is so real and not so different from wakeful experiences. If that is you, then you should wake up because you are not in the theatre of dreams! This is so real bruv…YNWA!

For me, what makes the whole achievement dramatic and memorable, is the kind of events that had unfolded over the 30 – year period since they last won same in May 1990. Tom Rostance of the BBC observes that, since then 238 players have pulled on the famous red shirt in pursuit of number 19. Neil Jones notes that, it is a wait that has witnessed six UK Prime Ministers come and go and five Presidents in the US. It is the long wait that witnessed two Iraq wars, over seven million Ghanaian weddings and one global pandemic called coronavirus. It is interesting to note also that, within the wait, there have been about 8 permanent mangers, one care taker and a worse experiment of two coaches at the same time with over 216 signings. Waaaooow…what a wait!

These fascinating statistics notwithstanding, my interest in putting this write up together, is this, and that should be your take away. That, determination and consistency in pursuing your aspirations in this life, rewards! The determination and consistency of these players who donned the Liverpool FC shirts over years, were unwavering. They all with the managers came to the Kop with just a purpose – to win the 19th League title for the Club.

I don’t know what you have been pursuing in your life that you don’t seem to have answers to. Is it a Degree? Is it to take for yourself, a virtuous wife? Or perhaps to get employed or master a skill? I say to you, never give up! Never give up in this life until your dreams and aspirations come to pass and become a reality! It doesn’t matter how long it will take, all you have to do is to just be focused and keep doing what you have to day a day at a time and above all, PRAYYYYY!. It will surprise you that, with this attitude and mentality, your answers will come to you soon and speedily like it has happened to Liverpool FC today.

Today, the 3-decade period of long wait, is a thing of the past! Their previous bad experiences coupled with the mockeries is over and that will certainly matter no more. Why? Because they have had the results and that is more important as it overrides all their bitter past.
